Women in Design is a seminar that probes the issues of women and design through four case studies of women who were or are exemplary design practitioners and role models. Readings will focus on analysis of art, design and literature meant to engage feminism and archetypal associations of the feminine, as well as exploring modes of constructing an historical, biographical record about women whose production is primarily visual-spatial, and ephemeral. The course is intended for third year through graduate level interior design and architecture students. Admission to the class for non-majors is with instructor's permission and also on a written paragraph after the first day of class.
