To send files between or within computer networks (e.g., PC and Mac network in Sutton Lab, or between your home computer and the lab)
Use a file transfer program (FTP) program (see instructions below) to first send the file from one network (e.g., the PC's or your home) to an intermediary location (our anonymous ftp server named "mather.ar.utexas.edu"), then go sit down at a computer on the other network (e.g., the Macs) and retrieve the files from the intermediary location. Note that for this to work, you must be using a computer with the "utexas.edu" domain. If you don't connect to the Internet through UT or UT Connect, it won't work.
