The Student Historic Preservation Association (SHPA) is an educational, departmental organization dedicated to the advancement of the preservation field and related areas of study through activities that include volunteering, advocacy, community outreach, extracurricular scholarship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
SHPA membership is open to all students at the University of Texas at Austin. We have a collective goal to contribute to the School of Architecture and UT as a whole, creating partnerships of opportunity, understanding, and advancement across disciplines.

RECENT ACTIVITIES
- Coordinating orientation for new historic preservation students.
- Developing a network of alumni and friends of the historic preservation program in coordination with Friends of Architecture
- Co-sponsoring networking and recruiting events with the School of Architecture's Career Services Office
- Hosting a documentary screening of Lustron: The House America's Been Waiting For
- Organizing visits to local historic sites and architecture offices and meetings with regional practitioners
- Hands On Conservation work, interior wall cleaning at the Alamo
