Juan Miró was born in Barcelona and obtained his professional degree at the Escuela de Arquitectura of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. In 1989 he earned a Fulbright Scholarship to complete a post-professional Master's degree at Yale University, where he was awarded the William Edward Parsons Memorial Medal. He has been a licensed architect in Spain since 1988 and is a registered architect in the states of Texas and New York.

Juan Miró is currently Principal of Miró Rivera Architects, an award-winning architectural firm located in Austin, Texas. The firm works on a variety of projects including urban design; institutional, commercial, and residential architecture; and interior and furniture design.

Prior to forming Miró Rivera Architects, Juan Miró worked at Gwathmey Siegel and Associates in New York City from 1991-1996. He was Project Architect for the Dell Residence in Austin, Texas and the Sony Plaza at the former AT&T building in New York City. Prior to coming to the United States, Juan worked in Spain with his father Antonio Miró as well as with Fernando Higueras, Felix Candela and Santiago Calatrava on a wide range of projects.

Juan Miró is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and has served as a juror for several AIA design award competitions at the national, state, and local levels.

Juan Miró was awarded the Texas Excellence in Teaching Award in 1999 and the New Faculty Teaching Award given by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture in 2000. In 2004, Juan was awarded an Austin Under 40 award in recognition of his professional achievements and contributions to the Austin community.

Miró Rivera Architects has won numerous design awards from the New York City, New York State, Texas, and Austin chapters of the American Institute of Architects as well as from the American Institute of Steel Construction and the Chicago Athenaeum.

Juan Miró has lectured and published in the US, Mexico, Spain, and Puerto Rico on the work of Miró Rivera Architects, the role of the architectural profession in civic life, and issues within Mexican architecture and architectural history. The work of Juan Miró and Miró Rivera Architects has been exhibited in New York, Chicago, Tennessee, Texas and Puerto Rico. Miró Rivera Architects has been featured in numerous publications including Architectural Record, Texas Architect, and Texas Monthly. Several of the firm's projects have been selected for publication in various books including Imagining Ground Zero (Rizzoli, 2004) featuring two designs for the World Trade Center site.
