Vincent Snyder established his own architectural practice in Austin in 1995. Prior to this, he worked several years as a senior design architect with Frank O. Gehry & Associates, Inc. and also has project experience in the offices of Michael Graves, Architect, and Kallmann, McKinnell and Wood, Architects, Inc. His current professional work ranges in scale from residential to institutional. He is a registered architect in Texas, California and Nebraska.
Vincent Snyder's academic research and teaching activities are primarily concerned with inhabitation and occupation within the context of boundless space and how specific cultural and constructional demands influence design processes. Additionally, much of his current work reflects critical responses that investigate the role and appropriateness of various techniques of precision as either generative or refining modes of application.
Some of Vincent Snyder's recent honors and awards include a Progressive Architecture Award from Architecture magazine in 2003, an Award in 2002 and a Citation in 2001 from Boston Society of Architects Unbuilt Design Awards program, a Faculty Design Award 2002 from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and an Outstanding Teacher Award (Studio) 1999 at the University of Texas at Austin.
