This special issue of Landscape and Urban Planning (LAND) “Geodesign-Changing the World, Changing Design” brings together essays and research papers that can serve as a basis for advancing geodesign given its current, still rapidly developing academic and professional contexts. Several years ago, the term geodesign (sometimes, also, GeoDesign) emerged from independent intellectual roots in the United States and in Germany.  In less than a decade, geodesign has gone from a neologism to the topic of professional conferences to the focus of research centers to the premise for new classes at many institutions of higher learning and degrees at leading universities.
