Suggested Course Schedule
Landscape Architecture
Course Description
The practice of landscape architecture is intertwined with increasing complexity of physical and social processes in the urban environment. Thus, not only site-scale design issues but also broader processes that shape urban forms should be addressed. The course schedule suggested here is intended to provide upper-level undergraduate students and graduate students in landscape architecture program with essential knowledge base on broader landscape planning processes largely from the perspective of physical and environmental issues. The underlying goals of this course are to improve students' abilities to read places in regional context and to provide analytical skills based on comprehensive understanding of natural and socio-cultural processes. The course is mainly based on the readings and discussion in class, but instructors can also incorporate field trips, studio projects, or any types of class activities, depending upon their class objectives and preferences.
