Transport & Deployment

We are constructing the BLOOMhouse in Austin, Texas and transporting it and our team over 1,500 miles to Washinigton, D.C. for competition on the National Mall.

Many decisions related to the competition house have focused on the ease of moving and deploying the house:

  • The fewer separate parts and number of connections made in the assembly of the house ensure enough time to get all systems operational quickly after deployment.
  • Operable portions of the house do not involve the conditioned building envelope to reduce infiltration and moisture problems.
  • The use of an integral modular home chassis foundation eliminates the need to load of the entire house volume on and off the truck, reducing coordination problems and minimizing valuable time spent constructing on-site.
