About this Project

Urban Source Material is a forum in support of research on the urban and urbanizing condition in Texas. With a particular focus on Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio, the site compiles resources, analysis and designs from design studios - architecture, landscape architecture and urban design- taught at the University of Texas School of Architecture. Urban Source Material is a (visual) dialogue based in design that traverses cities and assembles over time.

The mission of Urban Source Material website is to support the ongoing research by University of Texas School of Architecture students on cities including Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. For years our design studios have explored significant questions about the urban and urbanizing condition in Texas but until now the student work has never been systematically documented and shared in order to create a larger collective body of knowledge.

The website, Urban Source Material, provides access to resources about these cities, insightful analysis from many perspectives and new possibilities and approaches through design. By creating a visual dialogue that builds from studio to studio, we hope the website is useful to our current and prospective students as well as those in the surrounding communities as we create tomorrow's cities.
