Flexi®-Pave and similar products are responses to mitigating the damaging effects impervious surfaces have on natural water systems. As a porous pavement made from recycled rubber tires and a bonding agent, Flexi-Pave allows a high volume of water to pass through it while also removing a percentage of phosphates and nitrates. This product can come in various colors and color blends. Maintenance is needed to keep silt and small particles from clogging the pavement's pores. Typically, industrial vacuums are used to remove build-up. In addition, this product is best used over soils that will infiltrate water that passes through the paving. Otherwise, an underdrain system would be required to prevent pavement failure.
When porosity is maintained, this product is resistent to freeze/thaw damage while allowing snow melt to drain through paving, and into groundwater under the right soil conditions.
