This lecture will focus on the studio's research into artificial intelligence and design. The lecture will discuss the limitations and inherent inductive stagnation of collective valuation and feed-forward machine learning. It will also explore the generative potentials of these systems to rethink disciplinary "truths" and the significance of diagram-based practices in a contemporary social and technological context.
Ishida Rehm Studio is a design and research practice based in Los Angeles, founded by Yasushi Ishida and M. Casey Rehm. The studio focuses on the integration of cutting-edge technology into the design and fabrication process, from bespoke artificial intelligence software to robotic construction platforms. With the combined capabilities of the two partners the office executes a range of projects including architecture, product design, interactive media, and data analysis.
