PRP: Tell us about your PRP firm. Where are you working?
I am working at the Architecture Research Office (ARO), the firm is in New York, but I am working remote from my home in Dallas.
PRP: What is currently on your desk? What are you working on?
Currently, I am working on a school in New York. The project is extremely exciting as it focuses on Design Justice and Anti-Racism. We are designing to empower community voices, remove barriers to accessibility, acknowledge site history, and celebrate uniqueness and belonging. The project is sited on a national park where there is an amazing opportunity to incorporate the unique coastal landscape into the educational experience.
PRP: Describe the firm culture?
ARO has a great culture, the workflow is very collaborative, and a lot of effort is given to keep everyone connected with the firm, even though we are all currently remote. I enjoy getting to hear about other projects and learn from my teammates. On Fridays, we have a get together and each one has a unique Zoom background theme. Last week was your favorite Disney movie!
PRP: What is the first thing you'll tell your classmates upon your return to UT?
The first thing I would share with my classmates is that getting to work with the client and stakeholders to create something that is valuable and speaks to the community makes the design process so much richer and powerful.
PRP: As you’re finishing up the week, what are your plans for this weekend?
As I finish up the week my plans for the weekend are to take my dog on a hike in the local park.
