The Urban Information Lab has been granted the opportunity to co-edit a special issue for the Journal of Urban Technology. This speical issue will focus on Planning Support for Smart and Sustainable Cities. It will exhibit innovative ideas, methodologies, and case studies that bridge the development of planning support tools with the goals of creating smart and sustainable cities.
Being “sustainable” and “smart” has become the holy grail for cities, planners, developers, and governments around the world. A plethora of studies and discussions on how big data infrastructure and associated Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can help achieve sustainable development goals and improve the management of cities have emerged in recent years.
We are honored for the opportunity to co-edit and publish our work in the Journal and sincerely hope that our research will contribute to making sustainable smart cities for years to come. Further updates on the issue will be posted here on the UIL website.
