Matching funds requested for the awarded project TxDOT RMC 0-6634 Potential Value Extraction from TxDOT’s Right of Way and Other Property Assets
Ms. Jolanda Prozzi, Assistant Director of UT Center for Transportation Research and Dr. Zhang (along with three other collaborators) have been awarded a research project by TxDOT Project No. 0-6634 Potential Value Extraction from TxDOT’s Right of Way and Other Property Assets for FY 2010-12. In Texas, a number of recent analyses, including, the 2030 Committee report, have consistently pointed to significant deficits and an increasing gap between available funding and increasing maintenance and capacity needs. This has sparked some interest in the extraction of additional value from TxDOT’s right-of-way (ROW) and other land holdings. The objectives of this research study are thus to provide TxDOT with (a) considerable insight and guidance in determining when, where, and under what circumstances to pursue the implementation of identified value extraction applications and (b) structured guidance to identify and involve key stakeholders in the implementation of identified value extraction applications.
The Snell funds were used as a match to provide research assistant support. The project is ongoing with an expected completion date in January 2012.
