First Professional (M  Arch  I)

The M Arch I is an accredited first professional degree. It fulfills the professional degree requirements for registration as an architect.* It is designed for students entering either with no academic training in architecture and for four-year bachelor’s “pre-arch” degrees who wish to enter the profession of architecture.

Students who are accepted to The University of Austin School of Architecture will be admitted to the 3-year M Arch I degree program or the 2-year M Arch I degree program with advanced standing. The Graduate Office evaluates each student's application and determines eligibility for advanced standing based on the applicant's background in architecture.

Students may earn a Certificate of Specialization in Historic Preservation, Latin American Architecture, or Sustainable Design by completing the specialization requirements.
