BELLA - Built Environment and Landscapes of the Americas is a research group at the School of Architecture of the Univesity of Texas at Austin devoted to discussions around the spaces of the Americas. BELLA is coordinated by Professors Fernando Lara, Sarah Lopez, Benjamin Ibarra Sevilla, Gabriel Montemayor and Miriam Solis.
The School of Architecture at UT Austin is already recognized as an international hub in the study of American spaces. We have more faculty (7) focused on Latin America than any other school in the US and by expanding the focus to the whole continent we are hoping to create a dialogue between all space related disciplines all over the Americas.
Our main intention with BELLA is to develop an ongoing channel for scholarly debate. We already host dozens of practitioners and scholars every year, invited or attracted by our faculty and our collections. By grouping and celebrating all initiatives under one BELLA umbrella we hope to take those studies to a whole new level of intensity and visibility.
