CAAD Forum: Michael Averitt
Time as a design variable can inform approaches to problems across vastly different scales, from the instantaneous to the deep, potential future. This discussion will highlight a series of case studies that incorporate flows of people, materials, energy, and information to develop more sustainable and resilient technical systems within the public realm. By incorporating ideas from circular design, these projects provide scaffolds for future use and repurposing and ask questions about material reuse and program to extend project lifespans and accommodate the needs and desires of the communities they serve.
The CAAD Forum series is hosted by the Center for American Architecture and Design to bring faculty, students, and staff together for informal and inquisitive discussions about ideas relating to architecture and its history, theory, practice, and future. Presentations introduce and offer insight into new and ongoing research, and are followed by time for Q&A. Lunch provided; first-come first-served.
