CAAD Forum, Michael John McCall, “McCall Design Group: A Quotidian Practice”
On Friday, September 23, in WMB 5.102, the Center for American Architecture and Design hosts Adjunct Professor Michael John McCall, AIA, for his presentation, “McCall Design Group: A Quotidian Practice,” as part of the CAAD Forum series.
McCall Design Group was founded in San Francisco on August 1, 1989, just in time for the Loma Prieta earthquake. McCall was established with one goal—the collaborative practice of architecture. Such a practice we believed must embrace design, engage the community, enhance the environment, and evolve with technology. The purpose of this presentation is to explore thirty years of an architectural practice of everyday life and consider the implications for future practices.
The CAAD Forum series, held roughly every other Friday during the fall and spring semesters, brings faculty, staff, and students together for informal and inquisitive discussions about ideas relating to architecture and its history, theory, practice, and future.
Presentations are followed by time for Q&A, with the option to participate in person or via live webcast. Attendees are expected to follow the University's COVID-19 guidance, including recommendations for masks, distancing, and vaccination. Please note that lunch will not be provided in order to promote a safe gathering.
