Professor Bjørn Sletto presents "You Must Sing to the Worms: Body, Place, and Knowledge in Decolonizing Planning Research."

Bjørn Sletto is Professor of Community and Regional Planning at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include decolonial planning, community-based research, and environmental justice. He has engaged in activist scholarship related to Indigenous territoriality and participatory mapping in Venezuela; urban informality in Santo Domingo, DR; and community-based environmental justice work in Austin, Texas. He is co-editor of "Radical Cartographies: Participatory Mapmaking from Latin America" (UT Press) and "Decolonizing Planning: Power and Knowledge in the Informal City" (Edward Elgar Publishing, forthcoming).


City Forum is a planning and urban issues speaker series coordinated by the UT School of Architecture's Community and Regional Planning program. The series is intended to provide a space for open, critical dialogue regarding crucial planning-related issues in Austin and elsewhere, and to encourage discussion of diversity, multiple publics, and social change.

All participants are welcome. Lunch will be provided; first-come, first-served.
