Craig Scott received his Master of Architecture degree with Distinction from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. He has worked as Project Architect at Brian Healy Architects and RoTo Architects, and Architectural Designer at Morphosis and Glass Associates. Currently Professor of Architecture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco., he has taught previously in the architecture programs at Harvard University, Syracuse University, Southern California Institute of Architecture, the University of Michigan and Yale University.

IwamotoScott’s design process proceeds from the belief that each project can achieve a unique design synthesis. Dedicated to intensive design research, the practice engages in projects at multiple scales and in a variety of contexts consisting of fullscale fabrications, museum installations and exhibitions, theoretical proposals, competitions and commissioned design and building projects. Conceptual themes of the work focus on strategies of adaptation, and intensifying the experiential and performance based qualities of architecture. These conceptual directions are pursued through exploration in computational techniques, handson prototyping, investigation into material behavior, as well as empirical studies of the experiential effects afforded by formal, spatial and material strategies. IwamotoScott are committed to employing new technologies in the production of architecture, capitalizing on their potential to inform the design process and gear the evolution of the designs. The work of IwamotoScott has received widespread recognition, including the following awards and honors: thirteen AIA Design Awards over the past ten years // Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard 2011 // winner of World’s Coolest Office 2011 for Obscura Digital HQ from Architizer, Autodesk and Inc. magazine // inclusion in "Ten to Watch" from California Home + Design magazine in 2011 // acquisition of Jellyfish House and Fog House project drawings and models by SFMOMA for the Permanent Collection // participation in the CooperHewitt 4th Annual National Design Triennial // Best of the Year Award for ONE Kearny Lobby from Interior Design magazine // Honor Award in the Wood Design Awards for Voussoir Cloud // inclusion in the Guggenheim Museum’s 50th Anniversary group exhibition, “Contemplating the Void” // Progressive Architecture Awards Citation for 2:1 House and R&D Award for Voussoir Cloud from Architect magazine // Grand Prize for “HydroNet, SF 2108” in the History Channel’s City of the Future competition // selection by Herzog & DeMeuron and Ai Weiwei for inclusion in the Ordos 100 residential development in Inner Mongolia // finalist in the MoMA/PS1 YAP competition // selection of Jellyfish House concept for inclusion in the Vitra Design Museum exhibition, “Open House: Architecture and Technology for Intelligent Living” // Emerging Voices and Young Architects awards from the Architectural League of New York // California Council AIA Emerging Talent Award // and three I.D.
