Goldsmith Talks: Sarah Gamble & Lynn Osgood
Exploring Our Town
Designed for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and its diverse constituents, Exploring Our Town is a new online resource for Creative Placemaking. Released in August 2014, this 18-month research and design project yielded an interactive website featuring 70+ case studies and lessons learned from Creative Placemaking projects across the US with funding from the NEA's Our Town grant program.
Directed by GO collaborative, the Austin-based design and planning firm of Sarah Gamble and Lynn Osgood, the team brought together professionals from the fields of art, design, planning, programming, and journalism. The outcome is a practical guide and source of case study information, which satisfied the NEA's need for an accessible and comprehensive resource for practitioners, policymakers, and the public-at-large.

"Goldsmith Talks" is an open-format series of presentations organized by UTSOA faculty, staff, and students. Goldsmith Talks aims to encourage and promote presentations that are outside of the scope of the main lecture series. Examples are: invited seminar presentations, book talks, lectures by designers and scholars who may be in Austin for another engagement, round-table discussions, film screenings, product demonstrations, or any other activity related to research, scholarship, and teaching activities and at the school. The format provides a platform for encouraging the dissemination of work by visitors and members of our community. The goal is to raise awareness, increase access, and better integrate such events within the public life of the school.
