Hilary Sample is an architect and co-founder of MOS with Michael Meredith. She is an associate professor at Columbia University GSAPP.
MOS Architects is an innovative and progressive architecture and design studio located in New York City. Sample academic research occurs in parallel to the real-world constraints and contingencies of practice, informing and elevating both. Recent projects include four studio buildings for the Krabbesholm H¯jskole campus, the Museum of Outdoor Arts Element House visitor center, the Floating House on Lake Huron, and the Lali Gurans Orphanage and Learning Center in Kathmandu, Nepal. They received the 2015 National Design Award in Architecture from the Cooper Hewitt/Smithsonian and in addition, MOS has been honored with an Academy Award for Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a 2015 Holcim Global Award, the Architectural Leagueís 2008 Emerging Voices Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant, and the P/A Award from Architect magazine. Current projects include a proposal for Rubenstein Commons for the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, and Mixed Use No. 4 for the Architectural Imagination Venice Biennale.
