Lunch n Learn: Energy Conservation in Masonry
Wednesday Jan. 31, 2018 , noon to 12:45 p.m.
Changes in energy codes are creating challenges to masonry wall systems. This presentation reviews exterior envelope R-Value requirements and masonry wall compliance options. Participants will also learn about a complete thermally broken, insulated masonry system that offers high thermal efficiency. The innovative design combines a pre-assembled structural masonry unit, molded EPS insulation insert and thin veneer face and provides design flexibility and installation efficiency.
At the end of the Lunch n Learn, participants will:
- Understand exterior wall R-value requirements
- Understand the definition of Continuous Insulation (CI) and which masonry wall systems offer Continuous Insulation
- After reviewing the benefits of traditional and innovative masonry wall systems, understand design opportunities that are offered in terms of complying with the 2015 IECC
Lunch will be provided by Oldcastle Materials. AIA Members will earn 1 CEU Learning Credit. Please RSVP by January 29 at noon - email materialslab@austin.utexas.edu.
