Mike Hogg Professor in Community and Regional Planning
Professor Simon Atkinson is the Mike Hogg Professorship in Community and Regional Planning at The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Atkinson also served as the Former Head of the Joint Centre for Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University, and previously served as the Associate Dean and the Director of Urban Design and of Landscape Architecture at the University of Texas.
Professor Atkinson has won the School of Architecture Outstanding Teaching Award, and the Texas Exes Outstanding Teaching Award. He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield; North Carolina State University; Virginia Tech; University of Oklahoma; Washington-Alexandria Center; and has lectured at over fifty universities and conferences.
Professor Atkinson was Project Architect/Urban Designer with Wilson and Wolmersley and LLewellyn-Davies (London). He's also served as a partner of Oxford Planning Group, Black Atkinson Vernooy, Atkinson International, and is currently a partner at Urban Design Associates (Austin).
