DESIGN EXCELLENCE PROCESS
Design Excellence is a collaborative process among the Program Directors for Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture and Student Affairs.
DESIGN EXCELLENCE NOMINATIONS
Each fall and spring, studio and fabrication course instructors may nominate up to two projects (by one or more students) to participate in the Design Excellence process.
Student Affairs solicits and collects nominations from instructors. Then Student Affairs communicates the process to Design Excellence nominees including submission format requirements, the submission procedure, and deadlines.
Nominees’ projects are saved in a digital SOA student work archive.
DESIGN EXCELLENCE JURY
The Program Directors for Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture will choose a Design Excellence Jury.
Following spring final reviews, the Design Excellence Jury will review all fall and spring Design Excellence nominees to select the Design Excellence Winners for the academic year.
DESIGN EXCELLENCE WINNERS
Design Excellence Winners represent an exceptional level of accomplishment across our design disciplines and studio levels.
Design Excellence Winners are shared on the SOA website, social media, and in a summer exhibition in the Mebane Gallery.
