An Afternoon with Patrik Schumacher

Patrik Schumacher, Principal of Zaha Hadid Architects and author of The Autopoiesis of Architecture, visited The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture to talk to students about the design of future cities, academia, architectural theory, and computational design. The discussion offered new insights into bottom-up urban design and the connections between his theory of Parametricism and the contemporary philosophy of Object Oriented Ontology (OOO). He was joined by moderator Kory Bieg and panelists Lei Zheng, Michael Benedikt, and Igor Siddiqui. Students in Professor Bieg’s Advanced Design studio presented their work for the 2017 Malaysia Biennial 100YC prior to the discussion.
