The "Green Materials, Products, and Landscaping" exhibition showcases over 30 sustainable building materials.

On Tuesday, February 19, the Materials Lab exhibited a selection of materials from our collection at Green By Design, an Austin Energy Green Building workshop series. The Feb. 19 session, the second of three, focused on "Green Materials, Products and Landscaping" and was aimed at those looking to buy, build, or retrofit residential buildings with improvements to energy and water efficiency, increased comfort, and reduced maintenance needs.

The Materials Lab showcased over 30 products, including structural components, insulation, wall board, external cladding, flooring, and internal finishes. Products were selected for features such as high-recycled content, cradle-to-cradle production, rapidly renewable content, and absence of toxic ingredients. Materials were curated and assembled with the support of UTSOA students and Material Researchers Andrea Alvarez, Victoria Chaney, and Mila Santana.

The materials will be showcased in the Materials Lab exhibition space (WMB 3.102) through the Spring semester, and a list of Green by Design materials can be accessed here.
