Tell us about your PRP firm. Where are you working?
I am currently working at STG Design here in Austin! STG is a pretty uniquely sized firm, with around 100 people working in the office, but it truly feels like a big family here. STG works on a large variety of projects in different sectors, such as corporate, hospitality, multifamily, industrial, high rise, education, and more!

What is currently on your desk? What are you working on?
Currently on my desk are all of my to-do lists, my hard hat from a site visit, and some cute decorations, because everyone here has the cutest desk decor! Recently, I’ve been working on finishing up construction documents to submit a 95% complete set for a multifamily project! They’ve had me on a big variety of projects / tasks, such as picking up red lines, drawing stair details for their detail library, working on a brochure with a ton of pictures to send out to future clients, and more! I’ve loved even just looking through their project archives which have drawings for projects like Block 185 and the Oracle Waterfront Campus! Currently, STG has summer interns here as well, and they put together something called “STG Summer School” where each week we get to meet with someone in the office and learn from them, such as Accounting, the AEC industry overall with the CEO, Rhino training, Revit, and more! They’ve had all the interns sit in on the weekly meetings for every practice group (corporate, high rise, etc.), and they’ve been super excited to show us what their team has been working on!

Describe the firm culture? The office atmosphere?
The firm culture at STG is truly what made me want to PRP here in the first place. Everyone is so kind here, and you never need to worry if you have a question, because there’s always someone who’s more than happy to help you. They gave me a buddy on my first day (shout out Turan), and he helped me navigate my first meetings, took me around the office to meet everybody, and we had a Tiff’s Treats cookie party so I got to get to know everyone! If I’m interested in learning about something, all I have to do is ask them and they bring me along to their meetings and site visits! It truly feels like a big family here, and we always have a lot of
happy hours like salsa competitions or popsicles outside to spend time together! There is an emphasis on work-life balance here, and our company is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), which means the company is employee owned, so we truly do value each other and celebrate everyone’s success!

What is the first thing you'll tell your classmates upon your return to UT?
How much I want to keep working for STG after I graduate! And also that yes…I finally learned Revit. Thanks STG!

As you’re finishing up the week, what are your plans for this weekend?
This weekend is a little busy taking care of dogs and celebrating some birthdays, but I am planning to seriously take advantage of my free time this semester, and already have weekend trips to Fort Lauderdale and Nashville booked! New Orleans and Boston are in the works too. I’m really looking forward to the rest of my PRP here at STG!
