PRP Now! Namratha Thrikutam // JAJA Architects

PRP: Tell us about your PRP firm. Where are you working? 

I am working at JAJA Architects in Copenhagen! JAJA does lots of different work, but specializes in environmentally conscious design, adaptive reuse, and projects between architecture and urban design. 

PRP: Do you enjoy the city you’re working in? Favorite aspects? 

I love Copenhagen! My favorite thing about the city is that it's so easy to be outside. All the public spaces and attention to pedestrian needs make it so fun to do pretty much anything outdoors, whether you're going for a run or having a drink by the water. Also, I have yet to have a bad cup of coffee or pastry here. 

PRP: What is currently on your desk? What are you working on? 

I have stacks of sketches, trace paper, coffee, and my headphones on my desk currently. I've been working on a few things but at this very moment I'm working on some renderings for an urban design plan JAJA is working on in Amager, which is in the south of Copenhagen. 

PRP: Describe the firm culture? The office atmosphere? 

My coworkers are great! We've done traveling office parties around Copenhagen, run a citywide 5K, made apple cider in the Danish countryside, and so much more! People here have been all over and have so many different skills that I've been able to pick up so many new techniques just by working around everyone here. Plus, I know a myriad of random Danish words now! 

PRP: What is the first thing you'll tell your classmates upon your return to UT? 

It might sound silly, but we should all be looking at the ground way more! A lot of what makes Copenhagen so easy to navigate and enjoy is the variety of landscapes and attention to what you materially interact with daily. 

PRP: As you’re finishing up the week, what are your plans for this weekend? 

This weekend I am meeting up with some friends in Berlin
