Stella Stambaugh

Tell us about your PRP firm. Where are you working?
I’m working at SPINN Arkitekter in Oslo, Norway! SPINN has three offices across the country, and the Oslo office is in a great spot right by the coast, close to the city center, and near the forests.

Do you enjoy the city you’re working in? Favorite aspects?
So far, Oslo has been amazing! I love all the outdoor activities here. Being so close to both the coast and the forests means I can try new hikes and activities pretty often. I also really enjoy walking through the different neighborhoods, especially since the weather’s been great. I’m slowly preparing myself for the Oslo winter!

What is currently on your desk? What are you working on?
On my desk are rocks from Kirkenes, Norway, which serve as inspiration for a cabin project I am part of, that's made to see the northern lights. I also have trace paper sketches, a few architecture books on cabins, and of course a cup of coffee! My work is mostly split between developing plans and visuals for the cabin project and creating renderings for various competitions.

Describe the firm culture? The office atmosphere?
The office atmosphere is very collaborative and relaxed. We all sit together and have lunch as a group. There are always moments between tasks to sketch, discuss ideas, and rework things, which keeps communication open and creative. The office is also quite flexible with schedules most of us work longer hours during the week so we can take Fridays off and enjoy a long weekend. It’s been a great way to explore!

What is the first thing you'll tell your classmates upon your return to UT?
Don't take Texas weather or sun for granted and definitely visit Oslo and other cities in Norway!

As you’re finishing up the week, what are your plans for this weekend?
This weekend, I’m visiting Berlin, Germany, with some friends who are also in PRP. When I get back to Oslo, I’m planning to check out a few Sunday antique markets!
