CENTER 2: Ah, Mediterranean! Twentieth Century Classicism in America

JANUARY 1985

With the loosening of the corset of Modernism in recent years has come a renewed interest in Mediterranean Classicism. Scholars have begun once again to seriously study the tradition at various points in its history. It is appropriate, therefore, to start to reassess this longstanding tradition and to evaluate its potential application in our own time. It is this charge that Wayne Attoe and Charles Moore have addressed in the making of this journal. They have not attempted to be comprehensive or conclusive on the topic, but rather to collect bits and pieces to enhance our understanding or expand our perceptions.
