We Need to Talk About Homelessness

A person experiencing homelessness lacks shelter in its most basic form, but solving homelessness takes much more than buildings, and our contemporary moment reveals few problems that design, on its own, can resolve. This symposium, the proceedings of which have been documented in book form, brought together individuals representing policy, academia, and on-the-ground organizations and activism for a conversation about how to work toward housing our whole communities. Their discussions provide practical tools and strategies that we can use now, in our current academic culture and practices, to begin to shift our building climate for the better of our people.

This program serves as the third installment of CAAD’s “We Need to Talk About…” series, which puts students in conversation with professional and community leaders to discuss pressing issues in today’s world. These conversations help students clarify and use their voices for the betterment of the profession that their voices will help shape.
