Elizabeth Danze, FAIA, Receives Alpha Rho Chi Gold Medal

Interim Dean Elizabeth Danze, FAIA, has been named the recipient of Alpha Rho Chi's prestigious Gold Medal award.

Alpha Rho Chi (APX) is the national fraternity for architecture and the allied arts. The Gold Alpha Rho Chi Medal is awarded by the fraternity to honor an outstanding practitioner. Originally created to honor an outstanding alumni brother who has offered extraordinary service to Alpha Rho Chi, the 37th National Convention voted to open up the qualifications for the Gold Medal to all professional architects. 

Danze was nominated by the student brothers and sisters of the Dinocrates Chapter of Alpha Rho Chi at the UT Austin School of Architecture, who stated the following in their petition: 

Elizabeth Danze is a role model for architecture students across the globe. Her education, teaching, and expertise continue to make a powerful difference in the lives of her students, peers, and the public. We value her presence at UT because of her devotion to the profession and her Austin community.

Danze joins an exclusive list of recipients as the eighth honoree, and first female honoree, since the program's inception in 1977.  She accepted her gold medal at Alpha Rho Chi's 70th National Convention in Portland, Oregon on March 25, 2017.
