Introducing Our New Annual Publication: The Plot
The inaugural 2025-2026 issue features stories, interviews, and reflections from across the School of Architecture community, with special focus on the librarians and archivists of the John S. Chase Architecture and Planning Library in celebration of Battle Hall's reopening. Rooted in the same values of applied practice that guide our teaching, research, and engagement, this volume highlights the service, interdisciplinary collaboration, creative work, and scholarship that define our school.
“This first volume of The Plot marks a pivotal moment in our collective legacy, reaffirming the School of Architecture’s values of stewardship and service while emphasizing an education grounded in applied practice,” said Dean Heather Woofter. “Lively and conversational, The Plot offers updates from our community across our interwoven disciplines. We hope it reinvigorates your commitment to great design in service of your communities in Austin, Texas, and beyond.”
The "plot" is a part of a site that has been marked and measured. It is a location deemed significant, a part of the world that has been observed and considered as a unique component of its environment. It is the dual meaning of “plot,” both in land and in literary terms, that suggests a narrative of place—situated in its surroundings and defined by intentional storytelling. Offering a broad portrait of the School of Architecture, The Plot celebrates excellence in design, research, teaching, and public engagement while creating a sincere and tactile experience of our ethos.
Physical copies of The Plot No. 01 are available for reading at the John S. Chase Architecture and Planning Library in Battle Hall. This publication was designed and printed in-house with binding by Universal Bookbindery in San Antonio.
