Sustainable Design Alumni | Kristen Fulmer
Background Originally from Durham, North Carolina, she earned her BA in Public & Urban Affairs with Environmental Concentration from Virginia Tech's School of Architecture. After college, Kristen moved north and worked for a Boston-based real estate development company. As a multi-site property manager, Kristen managed three sites in Pennsylvania, including 394 market-rate units and 220 LIHTC & Section 8 units.
UT Impact During her time at UT, Kristen enrolled in architecture and real estate development electives and focused her thesis research on the long-term impacts of rapid development in Austin, Texas. She was a TA for all three semesters at UT and also participated in the 2014 PID program and the ULI Hines Competition while continuing to work part-time for the real estate development company.
Passion She loves the opportunity to work on many prestigious projects that shape the skyline and emphasizes the importance of not only sustainable practices in design and operation of the building, but also the practices during construction.
Work Impact After graduating, Kristen moved to Washington, DC, and worked for a sustainability consulting firm. Continuing her emphasis on sustainability, Kristen now works for Lendlease, within Project Management & Construction in New York City. To increase her involvement in improving her favorite place on earth, she is also involved in New York's emerging 2030 District, Corenet's Sustainability Committee, Urban Green's Emerging Professionals, and ULI's Emerging Professionals
