ISSUE: 005

NOVEMBER 2009

ISSUE: is a student-conceived, student-developed, and student-run publication. It does not forward any institutional pedagogy and does not conform to a particular ideology. Instead, it takes measure of the many concerns, desires, and constituencies that emerge within the student body each year. The goal of ISSUE: is not to organize projects into a set of ideas but to extract and communicate ideas embedded within each project.

The work in ISSUE: 005 resists a neat fit into categorical or disciplinary schemes. Students in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, and city/regional planning willfully cross borders and appropriate techniques; and underlying much of the represented work is an interest both by students and faculty to develop appropriate responses to design problems, rather than to defining disciplinary limits.
