Dan Scott

Lecturer

Dan Scott is a lecturer in the Historic Preservation Program at UTSOA. He teaches Graphic Documentation, Historic Buildings Survey and Drawings (ARC 386M/ARC 327R) . This course provides students with a hands-on approach to the documentation of historic buildings following the HABS guidelines. The class exposes students to the different digital and traditional techniques used to graphically represent historic structures. 

Dan has 15 years of architecture experience specializing in the areas of preservation, design communication, and field documentation methods. 

His work encompasses many aspects of architecture, preservation and research. His professional experience includes architectural design, documentation, project management, and maintenance of new and historic structures while working at the State Preservation Board of Texas. His research work centers on documenting the material ecology of historic structures and highlighting the significance behind the laborers, manufacturing processes, and cultural impact on the built environment.
