INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Welcome to the Community and Regional Planning program at The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture! We are a friendly program and pride ourselves on supporting our international students. Don’t forget that graduate school is a place to work with people and socialize with them as well. Our students organize happy hours and a variety of activities where you can socialize and explore the many cultural places and activities in Austin. Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States with a vibrant music and art scene. Its role as the capital of Texas, and close proximity to Houston and Dallas, makes it an ideal location to grapple with some of the major planning issues of our time.
Our faculty members have diverse research and teaching interests in a broad range of topics and geographic areas and scales. We conduct sponsored research projects, engage in community-based research and practice, and contribute scholarly publications in several areas, including Social and Economic Equity; Environmental Planning; Land Use, Transportation and Infrastructure; Urban Design and Development; and Historic Preservation.
Students in the Community and Regional Planning Master's or PhD Program can customize their curriculum through their choice of electives and by pursuing opportunities to work with faculty on their research. Faculty offer electives that reflect their own interests and often integrate elements of their own research projects.
