Marcia Banegas Valladares

Graduate Program Coordinator

Marcia Banegas Valladares immigrated from Honduras to Texas when she was little and was the first person in her family to attend college. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and soon after began her role as a college advisor at a high school in Austin, where she realized she was passionate about helping students reach their educational goals. Shortly following the pandemic, Marcia moved to Puerto Rico for a few years where she was able to serve as an academic advisor for the first Student Support Services Disability program on the island.

In 2024, after finishing a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, with a graduate certificate in Academic Advising, she moved back to Austin and is now serving in her current role as the Graduate Program Coordinator at UTSOA.
