ARC 382P PRP – PORTFOLIO (required)

The course is an open elective that enables the student to develop, and then demonstrate, the understanding and ability to combine the elements that create a thorough building design. During Residency, the student is responsible for documenting their contributions which is then assembled in a "returning" portfolio. Prerequisites: Must be participating in the Professional Residency Program.

ARC 382R PRP - PAPER

The course is an open elective that allows the student to independently investigate a “problem” or dilemma encountered during Residency in architecture and/or other associated fields. After the PRP Director has approved the topic, the investigation culminates in a substantial paper including citations and bibliography. Prerequisites: Must be participating in the Professional Residency Program.

Please note:

  1. Graduate students are required to enroll in ARC 382P PRO RSDNCY PROG PORTFOLIO during Residency.
  2. All coursework will be recorded as Incompletes (I) until the coursework is submitted at the beginning of the subsequent term following residency and graded by the PRP Director. The specific deadline for the coursework is set by the PRP Director.
  3. Prior to residency, graduate students should confirm any registration requirements to maintain eligibility with the Office of Financial Aid, health insurance providers, and scholarship/fellowship coordinators. International graduate students must register for nine hours and consult with the Graduate Coordinator and Texas Global for CPT requirements to maintain their immigration status.
  4. Contact the Graduate Coordinator for registration questions.
  5. While on residency, students are not permitted to register for non-PRP courses. Any obligations that significantly impact the residency should be discussed with the PRP Director prior to commitment.

UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

ARC 661R ADVANCED DESIGN -PRP (required)

The course enables the student to develop, and then demonstrate, the understanding and ability to combine the elements that create a thorough building design. During Residency, the student is responsible for documenting their contributions which is then assembled in a "returning" portfolio. Prerequisites: Must be participating in the Professional Residency Program.

ARC 361T TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION -PRP (required)

The course encourages the student to develop an awareness of the broader context, which enables a successful building design, to be researched and formulated into a reflective and critical paper. A topic, such as, digital tools, public relations, branding, office management, or cost estimating, must be submitted to the PRP Director for approval. Prerequisites: Must be participating in the Professional Residency Program.

ARC 379 ARCHITECTURAL RESEARCH -PRP

The course is an open elective that allows the student to independently investigate a “problem” or dilemma encountered during Residency in architecture and/or other associated fields. After the topic has been approved by the PRP Director, the investigation culminates in a substantial paper including citations and bibliography. Prerequisites: Must be participating in the Professional Residency Program.

Please note:

  2. Undergraduate students who need to be full-time during residency, for reasons including financial aid, scholarships, insurance, international status, and others, should consult with the SOA Undergraduate Office.
  3. Contact the Undergraduate Coordinators for registration questions.
  4. While on residency, students are not permitted to register for non-PRP courses. Any obligations that significantly impact the Residency should be discussed with the PRP Director prior to commitment.
