The inspiration for this multispecies lounge roots from an AI generated image of icicles in a paint drip formation. This image transformed into a 3-D relief model that helped visualize the AI pattern into a functional lounge. The project accommodates planters for numerous plants that needed 1-3ft. in area to attract various insects such as bees, moths, wasps, and butterflies. Drilled holes in the wall adjacent to the planters serve as insect habitats, maintaining distance between the humans and the insects while making them accessible to the insects.
Bird habitats nest in the crevices of the canopy, around 10-12 ft, still sight, but out of reach. Resting areas were designed for families to relax and have a picnic, hence the cantilevered table and benches. Furthermore, a children’s play area under the canopy allows for multifunctional play. The adjacent outdoor classroom features layered bleachers, allowing for optimal viewing of the speaker throughout.
