Operating a studio in the mountains, far off the next city, can be challenging. Specially setting it up as a young couple with big dreams, but no clients. Now, 4 years and one pandemic later, we can reflect on those dreams, those challenges, failures and benefits. And we can wonder what opportunities lay ahead for a new generation of architects.

Chris Precht is a father to son Tio, a husband to wife Fei and an architect at Studio Precht in the mountains of Austria.

When a derelict early 18th Century townhouse in Central London was given to an obscure Swiss charity, Assemble was invited to come up with an idea of what to do with it. The house had belonged to the artist, cyberneticist, beekeeper, campaigner and polymath Annetta Pedretti, whose energetic spirit we seek to maintain in the house, whilst creating a space for grassroots resistance to decades of top-down redevelopment projects. In this talk Louis will discuss the ideas behind the project and the amazing woman that lived and died in the house.
