Join us for our final workshop of the semester! We will learn how to up-cycle a local waste material produced on campus to create Papercrete blocks. Participants will work in groups to create a series of test blocks for sample testing, recording observations of the process and lessons learned along the way. The workshop will be led by Zach Rabon, President of Mason Greenstar, and Tim White, of Safe Healthy Homes.

This workshop will be a one-hour tutorial for students who are interested in learning to photograph their own models using a digital SLR camera and utilizing studio lighting. An overview of shooting modes, lens selection, aperture, shutter speed and exposure will be given, along with instruction on how to best utilize these camera settings in situations particularly relevant to students, including studio project and site condition documentation. Students will learn techniques to light their models, rules of composition, and troubleshooting.

This one-and-a-half hour introductory Digital-SLR photography workshop will focus on familiarizing participants with the cameras available for check-out in the VRC, in addition to covering basic shooting techniques. Light painting is a photographic technique used to light subjects—often in dramatic and colorful ways—in low light environments by using handheld light sources. This event will allow beginner and experienced photographers alike the opportunity to experiment and collaborate in creating unique photos of architecture on campus. Participants will gather in the VRC for a quick presentation on the basics of long exposure photography. Then, participants will break into small groups and, as the sun sets, will have a chance to try their hand at painting with light.

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at sustainable landscape strategies at the Dell Medical School campus, which features a green roof, bioswales, a wildflower garden, and a key section of Waller Creek.  Jim Walker, Director of Sustainability for UT, will lead a walking tour with a discussion of SITES at UT.

The city of Ahmedabad lies in the western zone of India in the central Gujarat region. Its origins date back to early 15th century when Sultan Ahmedashah founded the present city on its existing site in 1411 AD. Ahmedabad is one of the few cities in India that holds a living heritage within its urban fabric. This living heritage is in the form of traditional pol houses that reflect the essence of several communities within the walled city.
