Common'hood is an architecture modeling and simulation game mediated by scarcity and social struggle. The game foregrounds labor and inequality as a setting for community organization, self-sufficiency and the production of self-provided architecture.

The Materials Lab hosted a two-part workshop on strategies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the production of concrete. Part 1 of the workshop was a panel of three guests on ways in which the City of Austin and companies within the construction industry are currently tackling carbon emissions in concrete use.

This workshop explored the wide range of architectural possibilities of bamboo. Used all over the world, largely in tropical and subtropical climates, bamboo is a fast growing, sturdy, sustainable, and beautiful option for construction.
