The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture presents At Home in the World: a series of public engagements for the fall 2026 semester. Bringing together architects, urbanists, scholars, artists, and interdisciplinary practitioners, it examines the relationship between specific local conditions and broader cultural, technological, and environmental systems.  

The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture celebrates promotions for two faculty members, Kory Bieg and Maggie Hansen.

The prestigious competition put on by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) recognized seven outstanding projects that utilize concrete masonry products as the primary material to reimagine a welcome center of tomorrow.

Thirteen students traveled to Seoul to participate in the International Joint Symposium and Workshop, co-organized by Community and Regional Planning Program Director Ming Zhang.

With support from the Boone Powell Family Prize in Urban Design, Aaron Pendergast (M.Arch) visited seven cities in Australia to examine the edges, or “forgotten zones,” and hone his research on what makes these locations meaningful and effective.

UTSOA is proud to welcome new and visiting faculty members to the school this fall. With unique insight in the fields of Architecture, Interior Design, and Planning, these scholars and practitioners will bring invaluable new perspectives.

The University of Texas at Austin gathered more than 120 alumni, industry leaders and academic partners from 15 countries for the inaugural Texas Global Alumni Summit: Innovation Across Borders. Dean Heather Woofter was a featured panelist at the event.

Professor Juan Miro is recognized for his outstanding achievements in architectural design.

Associate Professor Alex Karner and Professor Emeritus Elizabeth Mueller will classify neighborhood types in Austin and evaluate their specific needs, rather than simply labeling areas as high opportunity or not.

As Professor Emeritus, Dr. Mueller will continue working on several externally funded research projects underway within the City of Austin and nationally.

The Spring 2026 Advanced Studio, “Instruments of Care – Architecture Acting Outwardly” taught by Carlos H. Blanco, rethinks architecture’s role in long-term systems of care, autonomy and adaptation, with consideration of immediate emergency responses to climate change, social mobility and shifting economies in Puerto Rico.
