This furniture piece creatively expresses the properties of wood. The coffee table doubles as a working puzzle table consisting of two components: the coffee table surface and the puzzle working surface. These two components nest into one another. In its primary position, the coffee table protects the puzzle surface, which can pivot to reveal the puzzle below. The coffee table component has an upper and a lower surface, which can serve as storage or as a puzzle box display.
Some considerations for this design consisted of common puzzle sizes, the point of pivot and rotation radius, the space between puzzle and top surface, and the size constraints of available materials.
