Center for Sustainable Development

Aerial view of downtown Austin, Texas, featuring modern high-rise buildings, the Colorado River in the foreground, and lush green trees scattered throughout the cityscape.
CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) was founded in 2001 as a space for complementary programs of research, education, and community outreach. Faculty research interests represent diverse interests to develop creative, balanced, achievable solutions to the physical and social challenges facing the planning, construction, and preservation of buildings, neighborhoods, and regions. To this end, the CSD team supports School of Architecture faculty in all aspects of their research, from proposal development and budgeting to -post-award coordination in an effort to provide comprehensive sponsored research support for UTSOA faculty.

Unboxing our baby bots 🤖🤖 Not easy getting two 1,000 lb. boxes down into our Robotics Lab, but they’re worth the effort. If you’re registered to attend our Grad Open House, you’ll get to see them in action!

What roles and responsibilities do fields engaged in shaping the atmosphere of interiors assume in the age of extreme weather events unfolding across a heating planet? How do atmospheric patterns, traditions, metaphors, or mishaps from the past inform current interior responses? <br>
